A group of deputies asks the Court to declare unconstitutional the appeal Board of the Tomos

    

47 parliamentary deputies asked the constitutional court to declare illegal the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada, which supported the appeal of President Petro Poroshenko to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the granting of the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine. They believe that the support in Parliament of the appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarch for autocephaly, “eliminates religious freedom and interconfessional peace in Ukraine, violates the rights and freedoms of citizens, in particular the constitutional right to freedom of belief and religion and is a direct state intervention in Church Affairs”.

Document filed authorised Deputy Vadim Novinsky and Olexander Dolzhenkov. Most of the signatories of the representation of the members of the faction Opposition bloc.

17 APR 2018 President Petro Poroshenko called on Patriarch Bartholomew to give Kyiv the Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine. April 19 this appeal was supported by the Verkhovna Rada.
