Albanian Church In Ukraine emerges the danger of a split of Orthodoxy

The establishment of Constantinople autocephaly in Ukraine is a dangerous enterprise, said the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church.

His Beatitude Archbishop of Tirana and all Albania Anastasios fears that the implementation of the Constantinople Patriarchate of the autocephaly of the Ukrainian project will be a “minefield”. This is stated in the message of the Primate of the Albanian Church, sent to Patriarch Kirill, the website of the DECR of the ROC.

The Hierarch said in his message that the project of Ukrainian autocephaly resembles a dangerous undertaking with unexpected side effects.

“The warring factions will retain its individuality and unity, as it has repeatedly happened in various Churches. In the end, instead of unity of the Orthodox in Ukraine emerges the danger of a split of the unity of world Orthodoxy”, – said the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, adding that the opinion he stated to Patriarch Bartholomew during a personal meeting on the island of Crete.

His Beatitude Anastasios writes, that his side “will do everything possible to prevent a schism in the world Orthodoxy.”

“Such a development would be a painful blow to the credibility of Orthodoxy, which all the forces should be avoided, – said His Beatitude. – No matter how it seemed impossible, we believe that we must “do everything” to return to the Meetings of the primates and the planning of the new Great Cathedral. We are aware that some will consider these proposals unrealistic and ultimately unworkable. Nevertheless, I am convinced that no one can be a realist, if you don’t believe in miracles, and what is impossible with men is possible with God (LK. 18. 18-27)”.

We will remind, the Council of bishops of the Polish Orthodox Church called on all Local Orthodox Churches to the meeting to be “in the spirit of the gospel of love, humility, understanding and mutual respect, respecting the Church’s dogmatic Canon” to find a solution on the Ukrainian Church issue. The same call made earlier by the Serbian Church does not recognize the decisions of Fanari on the restoration of the heads of the UOC-KP and the UAOC.
