31 October 2018 at the international festival “Faith and word” was held an event dedicated to the discussion of the Ukrainian ecclesiastical question, in particular, the threat of establishment imposed by the authorities of Ukraine “of the unified national Orthodox Church”, according to patriarhiei.

The speakers were made by the Secretary of the Department for external Church relations for inter-Orthodox relations Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk and chief editor of “Foma in Ukraine” Protodeacon Alexander Karpenko.

Father Igor noted that the situation in Ukraine is complicated, the Kiev authorities do not hide that are going to pass the temples and other Church property of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the so-called “unified national Orthodox Church”, which is planned to be from non-canonical “UOC-KP” and “human”. However, the canonical Ukrainian Church even in such a challenging environment remains calm, equal to its Primate — his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onuphrius.

Protodeacon Alexander Karpenko, in turn, said that relations between non-canonical groups continue to be conflict. Representatives of the so-called Kiev Patriarchate does not take into account the interests “of the UAOC.”

According to father Alexander, an important signal was the transfer of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, St. Andrew’s Cathedral, the historic Church on Andreevsky descent in Kiev, which was formerly the Cathedral “of the UAOC.”
