Chairman of the Synodal Department for charity, the head of the Commission on hospital service of the Diocesan Council of Moscow, Orekhovo-Zuevsky Bishop Panteleimon met with the chief doctor of the psychiatric hospital № 1 named after N.. Alekseev George Kostiuk. At the meeting on 20 June were discussed the issues of cooperation between medical institutions and the Church, volunteers help in the city hospitals, the European experience of hospital chaplains, reports Diakoniai. The meeting was attended by the rector of the hospital Church in honour of icon Bozhiej of Mother “All grieving pleasure” Archpriest Alexander of the Clergy.

According to him, this experience is replicable in Russia. “Just as we have in the Church is the military and prison chaplains must be and hospital chaplains,” said the vicar of his Holiness Patriarch.

Bishop Panteleimon briefly spoke about the work of the Commission on hospital service of the Diocesan Council of Moscow, of which he is Chairman. The Commission was formed with the blessing of his Holiness Patriarch Kirill in April 2018 for the organization of work of the Moscow diocese in hospitals.
