Meet Sr. Dorothy Sachnik...

My favorite Scripture passage is:

"The Mighty One has done great things for me,
                                   and Holy is His Name."
                                                                           (Luke 1:49)

I am a native Houstonian. I attended All Saints and Blessed Sacrament Grammar Schools. After graduating from Incarnate Word Academy, I entered the convent of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. I received my B.A. degree from Saint Thomas University and M.Ed. from the University of Houston.

I taught in parochial schools in Houston and Port Arthur and Incarnate Word Academy. In 1975, I transferred to the Diocesan Office of Aging Ministry as associate director. During these years, I assisted Sister Teresita Partin with the duties and programs of the office in ministering to the aging people.

When I retired in 2001, I have helped with the development of the Heritage Collection for the Congregation along with keeping involved with the senior adult activities in the Archdiocese. I now have more time for my spiritual life and also for some fun times. One of these fun things is a ukulele band which entertains some senior groups and nursing homes.
