Guests from Kosovo and Metohija visited DECR

    

December 25, 2018 at the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, a meeting of the DECR Chairman Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, a Bishop of the Serbian Patriarchate Bishop Russko-Prizrenski Theodosius and teacher prizrenski theological Seminary hieromonk Isidore (Jagodica), who arrived in Moscow on a short pilgrimage trip to shrines of the Russian Orthodox Church, reports patriarhiei.

During the conversation, held in a warm atmosphere of fraternal love and understanding, the sides discussed the importance of Kosovo and Metohija for the Serbian Orthodoxy and the Serbian people, as well as the current situation in the region.

Bishop Theodosius expressed support for the suffering of the canonical Orthodoxy in Ukraine is facing persecution. The Hierarch told the DECR Chairman about unanimously adopted by the Council of bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church 6-7 November 2018 decision not to recognize the canonical status of the clergy leaders of the Ukrainian division and their followers, taken to Constantinople jurisdiction, and to refuse to join with them in Eucharistic communion.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chairman of Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, and DECR staff member A. Y. Hoshev.

    

At the end of the conversation, the sides exchanged gifts.

Guests from Kosovo and Metohija visited the intercession and St. Daniel’s monasteries, in the Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo, where he venerated the relics of St. Alexis of Moscow and visited the tomb of blessed memory Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II, as well as in the Church of St. Nicholas in Klenniki, where the relics of the Holy righteous Alexis Mechev.
