The gospel of Mark, Chapter 2

after some days again He entered into Capernaum; and it was heard that He was in the house.

Immediately many were gathered together, so that already at the door, there was no room; and He spoke the word to them.

And came to Him a paralytic, who was borne of four.

And, not being able to approach Him for the crowd, uncovered the roof [of the house] where He was, and Prokopov it, they let down the bed on which he lay relaxed.

Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic — child! your sins are forgiven.

Here sat some of the scribes were reasoning in their hearts:

That He was blaspheming? who can forgive sins but God alone?

and immediately when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they thus reason in themselves, said to them, ‘ why these things reason ye in your hearts?

Which is easier? to say to the paralytic: “thy sins are forgiven?” or to say “arise, take up your bed and walk?”

But that ye may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins — he said to the paralytic:

I say to You, arise, take up thy bed and go into thy house.

and immediately He arose, took up the bed and went out before them all, so they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, never anything we have not seen.
