Honorary Chairman of the International Institute of the Athonite heritage (MIAN: www.afon.org.ua ) elected a well-known Orthodox theologian and petrolog Dioknisi Metropolitan Kallistos (ware).
As written by the Metropolitan. Kallistos in the letter addressed to the Board MIAN, “I am with happiness and gratitude are agreeing to become honorary President of the International Institute of the Athonite legacy.”
Previously, since inception in 2013 until April 2018 honorary Chairman MIAN was a well-known researcher of the history of mount Athos, doctor of historical Sciences, Professor Anthony-Emil Tachiaos (Thessaloniki, Greece), who died April 10 of this year.
According to General Director of MIAN Sergey Shumilo, “Metropolitan Kallistos has done a lot and continues to do to promote the heritage of mount Athos in the world. Close friendship and cooperation with him we are continuing more than one year, he is a member of the editorial Board of published by the Steklov mathematical Institute of the scientific almanac “the Athonite heritage” (“The Athonite Heritage”), together with him, repeatedly conducted various scientific and educational activities and all of our projects and initiatives has always found a ready response and support. Therefore, the election of Metropolitan Kallistos honorary Chairman of our scientific-public organization was a natural continuation of the fruitful cooperation.”
