In Berlin hosted a conference on interreligious dialogue

International conference “From the interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue to cooperation” took place on 19 November in Berlin (Germany).

The forum was attended by the head of the Representative office of the UOC to the European international institutions Bishop Baryshevsky Victor (kotsaba). Reported Information-enlightenment Department of the UOC.

With a welcoming speech to the participants of the conference asked the Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims office Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, a member of the Bundestag and the Commissioner for religious freedom of the German Government Markus Grubel, Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Germany Ramin Hasanov.

The conference was attended by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria his Beatitude Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, Theodoros II, Metropolitan of Zugdidi and Caisse Gerasim (Georgian Orthodox Church), Archbishop of Baku and Azerbaijan Alexander, Bishop of Bobruisk and Bykhov Seraphim (Belarusian Orthodox Church), Vice-Chairman Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), a well-known religious, state and public figures from Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA.

Bishop Victor presented a welcome address of his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onuphrius the organizers and participants of the conference.

In particular, in his speech the Primate of the UOC, said: “the need for the development of religious and inter-civilization dialogue and cooperation in the modern world is constantly increasing. The world in which we live is becoming increasingly global space, which interact with race, religion and culture. Events happening in some countries affect other countries and sometimes entire continents. Being different in origin, culture and religion, in the current environment, we are becoming more connected. In this new environment, we – the representatives of religions must seek to build our lives in dialogue and cooperation.”

The event was organized by the German-Azerbaijani Forum, Baku international centre of interreligious and inter-civilizational cooperation and the Berlin Academy for cultural diplomacy.

As reported by the SPM, earlier OSCE meeting in Warsaw head of the representative office of the UOC to the European international institutions Bishop Baryshevsky Victor said that Ukraine has amplified the rhetoric of hatred against believers of the UOC, and discriminatory processes in relation to the UOC has become systemic.
