In the state Duma took place the presentation of the exhibition “Russia: people and faith in the history and modernity”

    

The Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media, the chief editor of “Foma” magazine Vladimir Legoyda presented in the State Duma of the multimedia exhibition “Russia: people and faith in the history and modernity”, organized by the magazine “Foma” together with the Committee on civil society development of the lower house of the Russian Parliament.

“Our exhibition is a testimony of how our lives had changed. Why? Because 10 years ago it would have been impossible. Although it was already the “Foma” magazine, was the role of Christianity in our lives and stuff, but the exhibition would not be. Because life has changed, changed country, changed the state Duma”, — said V. Legoida in his opening remarks.

The representative of the Church said, today people have much more meaningful come to the temple exactly knowing why they made that choice.

“It’s a meaningful way to the life of the Church, but this does not mean that it is simple and bumpy. I always say that the Church does a lot in the face of its structures, but the main thing that makes the Church — it changes the human heart. The Church changes people, and people change lives. And here, in part, the result is represented in the photos our wonderful photographer Vladimir Eshtokin,” — said the chief editor of “Foma” magazine.

The Chairman of the Duma Committee on civil society development S. A. Gavrilov noted that such exhibition in the Duma for the first time.

“This is the first such event, which we hold in the walls of the chamber. It is partly informal. The exhibition “Russia: people and faith in the history and modernity” is a manifestation of the amazing cooperation of the Duma Committee on the development of society, public and religious associations, of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media and the Publishing house “Foma”. This is an example of strengthening the cooperation between the Church and part of society represented by the State Duma, which is our entire multinational people of Russia”, — said Sergei Gavrilov.

“For us, the answer to many challenges and risks is here this exhibition. We see surprisingly bright images of our country, the images of believers, demonstrating that we have no gap between the Church and society. And that organic integrity is the highest expression of the success of these ascetics, who gathered around the journal “Thomas”,” added he.

The importance of holding such exhibitions in the state Duma said the Deputy Chairman of Russian state Duma Olga Timofeyeva.

    

Another part of the exhibition were the videos of the project “Minute of history”, created the Interregional public organization of large families “Big family” with information support of “Thomas”.

“Ads in a minute is the format, which is now able to perceive, as said earlier, old and young. But in spite of this purely modern format, we managed, I think, to hold this moment meaning,” — said V. Legoida.

In the solemn opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media V. Legoida, Chairman of the state Duma Committee on society development issues, public and religious associations, S. A. Gavrilov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Olga Timofeyeva, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation O. N. Epifanova, first Deputy Chairman of state Duma Committee on civil society development issues, public and religious associations I. K. Sukharev, member of the Duma Committee on defence P. S. Dorokhin and many others.

The exhibition “Russia: people and faith in the history and modernity” will be held in the state Duma of Russia till 23 Nov 2018.
