In the Vatican hosted a lunch to almost 3000 poor

Pope Francis took part in the lunch which was organised at the Vatican on the occasion of world day for the poor. It was invited about 3,000 of the poor, the homeless, the unemployed and migrants.

“Now all having lunch together. Thanks to those who made lunch, and those who will serve tables. May God bless each of us, our hearts, our intentions and help to move forward” – so welcomed Pope Francis of the people who came on November 18 in hall Paul VI at the Vatican for lunch on the occasion of world day for the poor, according to “Vatican news”.

After the mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, which brought together the needy and those who help them, Pope Francis invited three thousand poor at a joint dinner, for which the papal audience hall was transformed into a large dining room. The Pontiff shared a meal with them.

Hall Printing of the Holy see announced that the festive menu consisted of lasagna, chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes and tiramisu. In conclusion, all the poor received the packages with the traditional Italian pasta.

At the same time in different communities of Rome held similar Lunches. The initiative was supported by the Catholic diocese and parishes in the different countries of the world.

About establishment of the world day for the poor Pope Francis announced in my Apostolic letter “Misericordia et misera” that was signed on 20 November 2016 to mark the completion of an extraordinary Year of mercy. The first celebration was held on 19 November 2017.
