It is impossible to legalize the split: the Manager of the UOC about the meeting in the Phanar


Patriarch Bartholomew and Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) met in Istanbul on 23 June 2018.

Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) spoke, talking about the hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

On June 23 between representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Constantinople had a very Frank conversation, said managing Director of the UOC Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary (Pakanich).

The purpose of the meeting was to give Fanaru objective information about the problems of Ukrainian Orthodoxy, as well as hear from the Patriarch Bartholomew whether he’s going to grant the Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, according to Information-enlightenment Department of the UOC.

“A few have talked about the impossibility of legalization of the schism, the question should be put on the cure, – said Metropolitan Anthony. – Figuratively speaking, sometimes the drugs don’t work, and we are now in search of what will help to unite our brothers who for a long time the Church fence, and we see that the desire of the Patriarch of Constantinople, the Church from which we received the baptism, to help in this matter.”

According to the Manager of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Bartholomew said he did not want to intervene in the situation, but wants to help solve complex “Ukrainian question”. “We must do everything to ensure that our brothers and countrymen who are in schism, returned to the bosom of the Orthodox Church”, – concluded the Metropolitan”.

The delegation of the UOC arrived at a meeting in Istanbul on June 23. The main topic of discussion – the question of granting of the Tomos of autocephaly for the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
