Pokonanie Liturgy, Metropolitan Mitrophan officiated a memorial service for students killed by a mine on the outskirts of Gorlovka. The Bishop called to pray for all victims of the war in the Donbas:

“The war that never stops, continues to keep the wounds at heart. Nine days ago, three children were killed in a mine explosion. Today their parents are here in the temple. I have no magic words to say, and parents will cease to grieve. If those words had been, I would have said. But Christians are people who know that this earthly life is death does not end, it continues in eternity. We testify when we all gather and pray for the dead.

All of us who live in this city, care. What happened with people who perhaps we did not know before, about the soul and heart of each of us. We think about it, the experience of ourselves in their place — each of us or our children could be there.

I would like to say to parents that our prayer is an expression of sincere sympathy and love to you. You are not alone, we are all together. Not only are we in the ninth and fortieth, but every day pray for your children, which I’m sure is now before the Throne of God, pray for us. We pray and all who died in this war. The Kingdom of heaven!”
