October 28, 2018 Georgia will be the election of the President of the country, and in their anticipation of the Primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church his Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II made a special statement:
“Unfortunately, in connection with the approaching presidential elections, some clergy make statements of a political nature and thus incorrectly expressed about a particular political figure.
Urge priests, bishops to refrain from such actions. Also remind them that the Church has always been and will be a force to unite people, politically neutral, so do not point the shadow of the Church and don’t denigrate my name.”
