His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia said that now is not the time for the visit of Pope Francis in Serbia.
Patriarch Irinej for the newspaper “BLIC” said that during a recent meeting with the state Secretary of Vatican, cardinal Pietro parolin, who visited Serbia, it was not about the visit of Pope Francis.
“This was not a word. Either one or the other side. The conversation was about other things, but this – no. At the time I spoke on this topic and stand by that,” said the Patriarch.
The Primate of the Serbian Church in the beginning of the year said that it was time for the visits of the Pope and that “everything that’s happened in the past and a huge number of refugees from Croatia most of the people against this”, the newspaper reminds.
At the same time, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic believes that the Pope’s visit would bring Serbia’s favor.
