His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufry
The cross became the bearer of life-giving power of God, said his Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry.
We worship the Cross not as an instrument of death, but as the instrument of our salvation. On this September 27 in his sermon on the day of the exaltation of the Holy cross told of his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine Onufry, according to Information-enlightenment Department of the UOC.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry stressed that Holy Cross is the great Shrine.
“We pray the Holy Cross, and thus pray to God, that the Lord by the power of His cross saved us from all evil, because the Cross was the bearer of life-giving power of God, – said the Archbishop – We worship the Cross not as an instrument of death, but as the instrument of our salvation.”
Metropolitan Onufry reminded that Christ were on the Cross, voluntarily gave his blessing. So we “Cross can’t hate, as the representatives of some modern trends, we must love him”.
“Every Christian should wear a cross on his chest, no matter what he’s metal or wood. The power of the cross depends not on the material from which it is made, and the fact that it was crucified Saviour of the world”, – said the Primate.
Metropolitan Onufry stressed that Cross dissolves our life.
“Blessed is the man who honors the Holy Cross, wearing the cross on their chest and make a little cross, because the power of the cross banished from all human evil spirits, evil spirits, looking like lions roaring, as if to swallow up the person and lead to destruction,” – said the Primate.
At the end of Metropolitan Onufry wished that the Lord would strengthen each on its earthly journey.
“So we, by the Power of the Honest and Holy cross, was defeated by the dark forces of evil, have been safely the path of life on earth, which is written to every person, and we were able to accommodate within itself the grace of eternal life in Heaven!”, concluded the Hierarch.
