Registration for the distance learning course of Church social work

Bishop Panteleimon will hold the first session and answer questions from the audience

The Synodal Department for charity in conjunction with the Department of social work St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University opens a free learning course on Church social service “Organization and management of social projects in nonprofit organizations,” according to Diakonia. Distance learning will be held from 6 December 2018 to April 2019. The course is designed for assistants of rectors and deans in social work. Chairman of the Synodal Department for charity Bishop of Orekhovo-Zuevo Panteleimon will hold the first lesson in the course and answer questions from the audience December 6, 2018 at 12:00 Moscow time.

The trainees will receive the necessary minimum of professional knowledge, learn to identify target groups in need and to analyze their needs, attract volunteers, and will gain basic knowledge of working with the asylum. In addition, the emphasis in training will be placed on the passage for each student individual in-depth courses on the organization of social work in selected areas depending on the needs of the parish. Among these directions help large, low-income and single-parent families, prevention of abortion and protection of maternity, prenatal and young mothers in difficult life situations, assistance for the disabled, work with orphans, left without parental care, and assistance with their family unit, help addicted people and their families, socialization of the homeless, respite care.

“Of course, as part of the course will be given a certain amount of theoretical knowledge, but the main objective of courses is to help everyone in the development of social projects in the parish, said the head of the sector of distance learning and advanced training of the Synodal Department for charity deacon Igor Kulikov. Specialists of the Synodal Department will analyze all the difficulties faced the trainees in practice, and try to help everyone overcome them”.

An important component of the training program are practical tasks to perform which will need directly on their wards, with subsequent analysis of the difficulties with the participation of specialists of the Synodal Department.

All participants can count on further consultation and methodological support of experts and specialists of the Synodal Department for charity. Result of training should become a successfully acting parish social project. Students who successfully passed the course and began to develop a social project, will receive a document of completion of training.

The training will be conducted remotely using technology “webinar”, an average of one to three webinars per week at a fixed time. Some classes will be offered in the form of records for self-study. The duration of each lesson is 30 minutes to 2 hours.

These courses are for social workers is held for the eighth time. Since 2011, it has trained more than 1600 social workers, which created more than 1,100 new Church social projects.
