St. Tikhon’s University will hold a festival of Renaissance culture

    

24 September 2018 in Moscow starts festival culture of the Renaissance, hosted by the Historical, cultural and educational center of the announce of the “Cathedral of Commerce”. Four-day festival program includes exhibitions, lectures, conferences and concerts dedicated to the European culture of XIV-XVI centuries, the Festival will be held in the historic Moscow diocesan house (the Main building of the Orthodox St. Tikhon humanitarian University) in Likhov lane, the press service of the organizers of the event.

The first day will open multimedia exhibition “the Age in miniature. Antique legacy in the manuscript book of the Renaissance.” It will be held simultaneously at two venues – in the Rumyantsev hall of the Department of manuscripts of the Russian state library and in the Main building of the Orthodox St. Tikhon humanitarian University. “Our guests will see presented on the touch panel scans of ten illuminated manuscripts from the collections of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana library (Milan), associated with the names of Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio and other famous representatives of the Renaissance in Italy, as well as rare manuscripts of the XV-XVI centuries from the collections of the RSL”, – said the expert on the organization of exhibitions of Historical, cultural and educational center of the pstgu “Cathedral chamber” Andrey Ivanov.

According to him, the decoration of the exhibition is an illustrated manuscript of the works of Virgil “Virgil Pinacoteca Ambrosiana”, dated to the fifth century. “Historic relic belonged to Francesco Petrarca. Thumbnail for it was created by a friend of the poet, the painter Simone Martini,” – said Andrey Ivanov.

Interactive exhibition “the Age in miniature. In the evening a public lecture “cradle of the Renaissance. As the famous Florentine family created an image of age.” Candidate of historical Sciences Marina Lopukhova will talk about the cradle of the Renaissance – Florence XV century, is experiencing a new rise of the Hobbies of the ancient culture. According to the historian, particularly the development of humanistic education, the flourishing of poetry, a rich mythology and art, inhabited by ancient characters, was the image of Renaissance Florence. September 25 will begin the work of the scientific conference “Ancient heritage in the manuscript book of the Byzantine Empire and Western Europe”, dedicated to the opening of the exhibition “the Age in miniature. Antique legacy in the manuscript book of the Renaissance.” The conference will be Russian and Italian experts on the history and art of the Byzantine Empire and Western Europe of the middle ages and Renaissance. After a few days, September 27, in the Main building of St. Tikhon’s University will perform the Baroque Capella “Golden age” under the leadership of Alexander Listratova concert “meeting of the ages: Renaissance and Baroque”. For spectators it will be a journey during the birth of the Baroque style of direction became the most important epoch in the history of music. All musical compositions will be performed on historical Baroque instruments – violins, cello and harpsichord.
