True freedom one finds only on the narrow path of God’s Commandments, said his Beatitude Onufry.

People living according to the Laws of God, becomes truly free. This was told by his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufry in a sermon at the Pochaev Lavra, according to Information-enlightenment Department of the UOC.

The Primate stressed that we must pray the blessed virgin to help us preserve the purity of the Orthodox faith, which was passed to us by our ancestors, often giving his life for her. The Archbishop also added that even sinful man with a Holy faith, may be better.

“The Lord has told us that the road to eternal life is a narrow path that leads to perdition is wide, – said his Beatitude Onufry. – When one walks a narrow path, that is, subjected himself to the Law of God, only looks limited and actually gets true freedom. If I am a slave of sin, you have no discretion, I’m bound hand and foot. Freedom from sin is given to the person who lives according to the Laws of God.”

The Lord stressed that God’s Commandments are Holy, and that man who lives according to the Commandments, becomes Holy and free in the full sense of the word.

“In this way – true freedom, true happiness, true peace and joy,” concluded Metropolitan Onufry.

On 5 August, the Primate of the UOC presided over the festive divine service in pochayevskaya Lavra.
