The President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill visited the exhibition “Treasures of museums of Russia” in Moscow

    

4 November 2018, the feast of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God and national unity Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill after the solemn ceremony of laying flowers to the monument to Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky on red square, visited the exhibition “Treasures of museums of Russia” opened in the Central exhibition hall “Manege” in Moscow, reports patriarhiei.

The exhibition, prepared by the Patriarchal Council for culture with the support of the Moscow Government and the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation, takes place from 4 to 25 November. Under the roof of the Arena contains more than 280 of the most significant artifacts from 50 museums in Russia. The exhibition was organized by the State Tretyakov gallery, the project “Russia ― My story”, the State of the Church-exhibition center “ROSIZO”.

The head of state and the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was accompanied by the Minister of culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky, the mayor of Moscow S. S. Sobyanin, Chairman of the Patriarchal Council for culture of Pskov and Porkhov, Metropolitan Tikhon. Explanations were given by General Director of the State Tretyakov gallery by I. Z. Tregulova.

    

The exposition started with the main Shrine of the exhibition — the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness” brought to Moscow from the Dormition Pskov-caves monastery. Revered image is installed in front of the entrance to the first of nine exhibition halls of the exhibition “Treasures of museums of Russia”. The exhibition provided and other images imported from regional collections usually inaccessible to the Metropolitan audience.

In the hall, “the Iconography of the XVII-XIX centuries” the Russian President and the Patriarch stopped at the icons of the Holy Nobleborn princes Vladimir, Boris and Gleb (1670 year, the Rostov Kremlin); the Holy Prince Dimitry of Uglich, with scenes of the murder (the first half of the nineteenth century, State Vladimir-Suzdal historical-architectural and art Museum-reserve); of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with scenes from his life (XVIII century, Novgorod); St. Sergius of Radonezh with scenes from his life (XVII century, Yaroslavl), as well as the copy-reconstruction of the icon “our lady of Bogolyubovo” of the XII century, created in 2015 (State Vladimir-Suzdal historical-architectural and art Museum-reserve).

    

Vladimir Putin and his Holiness got acquainted with the exposition hall “Russia”, “Parsuna and provincial portrait”, “art of the first half of the XIX century”, “art of the second half of the XIX century”, “the Art of the turn of XIX-XX centuries”, “Modern movement of the early twentieth century”, “the Art of 1920-50-ies”, “the Art of the end 1950-x — 1990-ies”.

In preparation for the opening of the exhibition “Treasures of museums of Russia” was a lot of work. Many of the paintings specifically for the exhibition in the Arena was renovated.

The main theme of the exhibition was the indestructible unity of the cultural space of the country. Art collections the regional museums, unique. Formed by the efforts of several generations of collectors, Museum professionals, artists, and their heirs, they overcome stereotypes of provincial museums.

Curatorial team of the project, which included critics of the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Museum and exhibition center “ROSIZO” and the experts of the Patriarchal Council for culture, presents the history of Russian art in all its diversity, starting with icons and Parsuna of the XVII century and ending as known to the General public, and practically left the limits of regional museums with paintings of great artists such as K. Briullov, A. Venetsianov, A. Kiprensky, V. A. Tropinin, I. K. Aivazovsky, I. Levitan, I. E. Repin, V. A. Serov, B. M. Kustodiev, I. I. Mashkov, A. A. Deyneka and many others.

The exhibition presents works of different genres: portrait (noble, bourgeois, peasant), landscape from North to South of Russia, city landscape, historical paintings. The diversity of names and works demonstrating a unique picture of the development of Russian art.

In the framework of the exhibition for all age groups will be organized excursions and a rich educational program prepared by the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation, historic “Russia ― My story”, the State Tretyakov gallery and gmvts “ROSIZO”. Also produced a richly illustrated catalogue.
