Ten years ago, the earth ended the way of the ever-memorable his Holiness Patriarch Alexy. All or at least most of those present here, preserved in the memory of the sad event which made a long stay of his Holiness at the head of our Church.

Years of the Patriarchate, his Holiness Alexy coincided with big changes in life. The Church has opened up new opportunities. Dire circumstances, surrounded by which was the Church for 70 years, Pali, and it was important to use opened new opportunities for the comprehensive development of Church life. His Holiness led this wonderful update of the life of our Church in the 1990s and early 2000-ies. These years marked the opening of many churches, the ordination of many priests, but most importantly, these years were marked by changing the position of the Church in our country. The Foundation was laid for its further development, and all directly involved in guiding the life of the Church, his Holiness Patriarch Alexy.

But not everything was happy and calm. In the time of Patriarch began the complex process associated with changes in the political situation in the former Soviet Union, primarily in Ukraine. And we know how already at that time began to develop separatist tendencies, as have fallen away from the Church, the former Metropolitan Filaret of Kiev, as there was a split that caused immense damage to Orthodoxy in Ukraine. All this could not pass by the conscience and heart of the late his Holiness. And I, being his closest employee, I well remember how worried his Holiness of what is happening in the Church, but never lost hope, never lost his calm, and that hope and peace has inspired us all.

We will keep in memory the bright image of his Holiness Patriarch Alexy, whom the Lord gave the lot to manage our Church in a difficult transition period. The Patriarch, who has done a wonderful job task that stood in front of the Church by strengthening the life of our Church, bringing together bishops and giving the opportunity to continue to develop all aspects of Church life. We remember his Holiness Patriarch Alexy and as someone who knew how to forgive, know how to listen to people, he knew how to hold back sometimes even righteous anger. We remember his Holiness Patriarch as a man who with an open heart belonged to the sorrows of others when they are the sorrows confided to him.

Let his light image remains in the hearts of those who knew him well, and in the historical memory of our Church. Now go to his grave and take the funeral service, prayed to the Lord for the repose of his immortal soul in the dwellings of the righteous. Amen.”
