Archimandrite Nestor (Donenko) was ordained as Bishop of Yalta, vicar of the diocese of Simferopol.
September 27, 2018, the day of the feast of the exaltation of the Holy cross, his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufry made bishops over the consecration of Archimandrite Nestor (Donenko), according to Information-enlightenment Department of the UOC.
25 September 2018 the Holy Synod of the UOC elected cleric of the diocese of Simferopol, Archimandrite Nestor (Donenko) as Bishop of Yalta, vicar of the diocese of Simferopol.
At the end of the Liturgy in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra the Primate of the UOC said the Word to the newly-consecrated Bishop Nestor Yalta and handed him a Bishop’s staff.
“You’re known as a scholar and publisher of many books about the Holy new Martyrs whose blood watered the earth with our earthly homeland, – said in his welcoming speech. – Strive to keep their advice not to go to extremes and follow the path that they walked”.
Yalta Bishop Nestor (Donenko) (b. 1958) served as rector of the Church of the Holy virgin in the village Oreanda. He teaches at the Tauride theological Seminary. June 13, 2018, was tonsured a monk and given the name Nestor, Metropolitan of Simferopol Lazarus (Shvets) of Simferopol Holy Trinity Cathedral. In 2018, the Dean of the Yalta district.
