July 19, held a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the restoration of the Church of the Epiphany on the Island in the village Chepelevo, reports information Department of the Rybinsk diocese.
The former Cathedral Church of the Epiphany monastery “on the Island” – one of the finest of the later monuments of the famous Yaroslavl school of architecture of the XVII century, the object of cultural heritage of Federal importance. He is now in a dilapidated condition.
The Board of Trustees was created in the spring of 2017, its members included the Bishop of Rybinsk and St. Benjamin, Chairman of the Yaroslavl region Dmitry Stepanenko, head of the Rybinsk Denis Dobryakov, head of the Rybinsk municipal district of Tatyana Smirnova, the deputies of the regional Duma, public figures, painters, priests Rybinsk diocese.
Bishop Benjamin reminded the audience about the importance of spiritual and historical value of the Church of the Epiphany on the Island:
“It is our memory, it is a sacred place. So its residents come here not just to visit a beautiful place to admire the temple but also to feel the history of the life of our countryman of the Holy and righteous warrior Feodor Ushakov. And we see the year this place is decorated, and, with God’s help, we will be able to restore lost once the sanctuary”.
Dmitry Stepanenko expressed his willingness to contribute to the revival of the temple:
– If during the preparation of the documentation or during construction occurs at least some small problem, I asked immediately to contact me. I will make every effort to the restoration project of the Church of the Epiphany on the Island was implemented.
The same opinion is shared by the Director of the Department of protection of objects of cultural heritage of the Yaroslavl region Alexander Filyaev:
– We are already talking with the Ministry of culture on the transfer of 55 million rubles for the restoration of the temple in Hopelive. This contract will be signed in late August – early September. And at the moment the project documentation has passed all the possible matching obtained all the necessary expertise. Even the selected contractor, and we plan to begin work without waiting for the signing of the agreement.
Primarily works in strengthening the Foundation, the restored which is now in disrepair vaults. In addition, will be undergoing exterior restoration work. And all this is planned to be completed before the end of 2018. This means that workers will have to work hard and in the cold, for this Board of Trustees it was decided to budget the amount to build a heat box around the temple. All this will take place under control of technical supervision, which guarantees the execution of all works at a high level.
In addition to the rebuilding of the temple, the meeting discussed the prospects of tourism development Chepelevo, and the annual festival of culture and art named after Fyodor Ushakov, which this year will take place on 5th August.
