The tournament powerlifting among prisoners held in a colony in the Kuban

    

The tournament powerlifting organized in a Corrective colony №9 of the city of Krasnodar St. Catherine’s Cathedral in Krasnodar. The event was part of a unique charitable social project “Sport for prisoners”, which is the main temple of the Kuban implements with the support of the presidential grants.

    

On Saturday, August 4, on the Playground athletic club name of St. Nicholas of Japan met powerlifters and prisoners. Before the competition the staff clergyman of the Cathedral, priest Anthony Moseyko made a prayer.

Then began the performances of athletes representing the Federation of powerlifting of the Krasnodar territory.

We got to show the guys whose freedom is temporarily restricted that even while in prison, they can live and develop. In particular, work on his physical form, self-discipline, will and determination – the President of regional Federation of powerlifting Yuri BOGACHOV.

Master of sports, coaches, Champions and winners of the national competitions showed the prisoner the execution of the three basic exercises – the squat, bench press and deadlift.

– Weighing in at 114 pounds I pick up the barbell, which weighs 1 020 kg, and believe that such results can come many. Powerlifting is a sport that can be practiced at any age. Months of hard training will quickly bring results, – said the senior coach of the Krasnodar territory in powerlifting, master of sports of Russia in powerlifting, record holder and winner of national tournaments in powerlifting and bench press Andrey Sidorenko.

After demonstrations of their strength in the deadlift tried convicted. Among them were many well-trained athletes, because the last four months, they were engaged in physical activity on the force in town and had the opportunity to consult with professional trainers. In the end, 11 men showed the best results and received the gift of sports nutrition and t-shirts. Each of the athletes of the regional powerlifting Federation received a letter of thanks from the rector of St. Catherine’s Cathedral Archpriest Igor Olzhabaev and sports nutrition.

    

After the competition the prisoners attended the concert, where they performed a new author and performer of his own songs Ilya Veligodsky and singer, member of the composers ‘ Union of the Kuban Elena Parshina.

We will remind, the project “Sport for prisoners,” which had been initiated by St. Catherine’s Cathedral, supported by the UFSIN of Russia across Krasnodar Krai, the Ministry of physical culture and sports of Krasnodar Krai. The colony built a power town with a professional outdoor fitness, the weightlifting platforms, free weights. Prisoners involved coaches and masters of sports in powerlifting, arm wrestling and weight lifting. Just physical exercise in the Khadyzhensk colony about 500 men, some of whom are people with disabilities. Investments in the project amounted to seven million rubles.
