27 September 2018 in the Kremlin under the chairmanship of head of presidential Administration of the Russian Federation A. C. W. held a meeting of the Council for cooperation with religious associations under the President of Russia, reports patriarhiei.
The Russian Orthodox Church the event was attended by the Patriarchal vicar of the Moscow diocese, Metropolitan of Krutitsy and Kolomna Yuvenaly, Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Educational Committee of Russian Orthodox Church Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, the Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media V. Legoida.
The meeting was dedicated to issues of interaction of state structures and religious organizations in the care of young people. The meeting was attended by the members of the Council ― representatives of the traditional religious associations of Russia, Federal Agency for youth Affairs, experts in the field of religious studies and interreligious relations.
Speaking with the review of the performance of traditional religious organizations of Russia in the youth field, member of the Board V. Legoida told about the achievements of the youth organizations of the Russian Orthodox Church. In particular, he noted: “Russian ecclesiastical educational, volunteer, social, student projects cover the youth at least 1.5 million people, major events, regional conferences, gathering annually more than 200 thousand active young people.” According to the speaker, there is growth of the youth audience on the Internet: “Over the past year audience growth of youth associations and major religious and social organizations in the Internet amounted to 150-200%”.
V. Legoida in his speech pointed to the need for more active communications and logistical state support to the many creative initiatives of religious youth.
In conclusion, the speaker referred to the importance of the category of morality as an integral part of culture in its various fields ― theatre, cinema, literature. “Managers of culture, including receiving state support, should not play on the passions of the young generation to make their product profitable,” noted V. Legoida.
Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk in his report touched upon the issues of the development of theology in the system of Russian higher education and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population of Syria.
Head of the Federal Agency for youth Affairs V. A. Bugaev spoke about the forms of interaction between the state and religious associations in the context of work with the younger generation.
The discussion was attended by members of the Council representing the various religious organizations of Russia.
Following the discussion, recommendations were adopted authorities on information support of activities in the field of youth work and constructive cooperation in the work with young people from social risk groups.
Was approved to support projects aimed at spiritual and moral upbringing of the younger generation, the formation of Patriotic ideology in the student’s environment and the development of national sports.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Council of the Ministry of education and science adopted a decision on the inclusion of theology in the nomenclature of scientific specialties; held the first thesis in theology.
The Council approved the project to assist the people of Syria and agreed to continue this work.
