– Intelligence is not about knowledge and skills. Intelligence – it is about quality.

– Usually seven to seven and a half years. The child is a preschooler just learning to separate the essential from the nonessential, is not ready to rank the world on concepts and qualify all around. To go to six years in school – an ordeal for the child. And if the child is an orphan if he survived the trauma of separation and deprivation, 8-9 years, he is not always ready.

My foster child whom I raised from birth, has reached the level of conceptual thinking only to 12 years. I do not exclude that when he was in the womb, he didn’t have enough vitamins for the formation of the brain. Anyway, he’s intellectually reduced man. And that his brothers and sisters happened to the first class, it didn’t happen until middle school.
Of course, we can create the educational conditions, but it is not up to us when the brain Matures. Sometimes it is very late.

If the child situational thinking, it’s hard to learn how difficult it is to grasp the essence, to see the terms phenomena and to combine duck with a rooster. But how to combine them if the cock plopped onto the top of the head, and ducks her there?!

My son has a problem with intelligence, but a great vocabulary. When was the last time I went to a parent meeting at the school, expecting nothing biased will not hear (he on all subjects of triples), we were surprised. “It’s a boy, so much potential, kindness and intelligence…”, – I heard from one teacher, then another. Why do they love him? I’ll tell you. Just because he speaks well and says the right and proper things. – Audio books and reading are fundamentally different things. And, both need. In the car I regularly include audiobooks. But it is not a substitute for reading.

– My eldest daughter is 19 years old. I still read to children before bed and it just all lie to me on the bed to listen. And I read everything from Donkey Mafia and Russian folk tales, Dumas, and Cooper. Well can’t our children read the adventure classics, which we grew up. They love to read contemporary fiction. So if I by Walter Scott and mark TWAIN, classic literature simply does not take place in their lives.

– I worked in the school psychologist. At the invitation of the children attend a lesson in physics. They wanted me to explain why these lessons they do not like. But if the child is not formed, then what happens?

– These children begin to offend. Involuntary and immediate child, if he is bored, get up and go to play. What would you do teacher? He starts to slow down, because there are other wards, and the program lesson plan. The only way to quickly slow down baby – to devalue it.

When I was little, the first of September in our class came Alyosha – a hyperactive child is not generated by randomness. He was a late child of elderly parents, loved and pampered who never went into the garden. Soviet children did the whistle, and he could not and did not want. At the end of the longest first day of school the teacher said, “All done. Put all five. Once seen you are real first graders. And you, Alyosha, I put four. You’re not very well behaved, but we hope that you will mend!”.

She cheapened Alyosha very intelligent. Remember how he sobbed and beat at the hands of my mother, who explained to him that “4” is a good rating. Class, like a scared flock, quickly feels the weakest link and starts to poison him. Alyosha in school to learn not able, the relationship didn’t work, and he left for home schooling.

One teacher’s words enough to break all the possibility of the child’s adaptation to school. And the teacher says this word, because it’s hard with such children.

So our task is to develop the children’s self-regulation that he (for good reasons, or in order to please the teacher, make friends with classmates) to do what is the condition of being in school.

And how is randomness?

The leading activity of preschool children – role-playing game. It means to teach arbitrariness through games with rules.

The first thing to teach table, the second – yard games where there are rigid roles and rules. For example, hide and seek, in which you need to count to ten, stand with your eyes closed. Or “stick-smokelocke”, “para-expression-for-yourself”. The base is in a certain place, not where you wanted to, the words you should say certain.

It seemed rushed, especially because small children are always involuntary – want closed my eyes, I want no, I tapped the base of the hand, want forgotten. And other adults and children are given feedback, “you can’t, you’re peeping, you’re no one to play hide and seek will not.”

In this game the child learns to act according to the rules. In a Board game – go by the rules, to open only those cards that can and want to. Playing with the child, explaining the algorithm, not allowing them to cheat, we are shaping the child’s self-regulation.

First we wait for the inevitable resentment, disappointment and tears. The child needs to be given to win, to give in some time. But very soon it is important to give experience of loss, to show who is smarter than, faster, closer and smarter. This is normal. The child must be the first and the second experience.

While children play, saved not only the close relationship and significance of the adult, we are preparing the child for school.

Is there a more rewarding game, less useful?

– All Board games teach self-control over immediate desires. Many of them work on attention, visual and auditory memory, imagination, that is, create optimal conditions for the development of intelligence.

It is necessary to play that the child get worse and with the channel which is less developed. If problems with visual memory, to play in the “foreign languages”, if the inability to match the image with a real image– buy “Barabashka”, if you have problems with imagination – play “Dixie” and “Imaginarium”, which also develop passive vocabulary.

But there are simple games that provide a good mood and the very randomness, the ability to follow the rules. It’s all a strategy game: “Carcassonne”, “Colonialists”, “Port of Piraeus”, the classic “Monopoly”. Most importantly, they train the ability to win and accept defeat.
