According to political analyst Alexei Yakubina, the avalanche of various processes in respect of the UOC, we are now seeing, is directly connected with the threat to the election campaign of the incumbent President. He told about it on air “Pershoho Kozickogo”.
According to experts, searches and interrogations of the clergy of the UOC began after the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the decisions of which mentioned only that the Synod adopted a new Charter for the unified Church structure that will be created.
“The decision of the Patriarchate of Constantinople is in fact not mentioned, that Ukraine has received Tomos, what Bank already in the third time loudly declared, said Yakubina. – I understand that on Bank hoped that there will be something else written that will be specified Tomos, which is to present to the public.”
The political scientist believes that in this decision of the Synod of Constantinople, Thomas was not including because “in this unification process, which in fact political and contentious, did not agree to participate the canonical hierarchs of the UOC, and without them, this so-called “unification Council” even from the point of view of the Patriarch of Constantinople has little meaning.”
In this regard, said politekspert, increasing pressure on the UOC-MP from the state is a banal revenge for the resilience of the canonical Church.
“The authorities decided, again failed to affect the UOC “carrot” that now have to act even tougher. And so we saw an avalanche of various processes related to the UOC”, – summed up Yakubina.
Informed political expert Alexander Yakubina expressed the belief that the President of Ukraine is interested in Tomos solely in light of the upcoming elections, and therefore, the autocephaly will again “give” until 31 March 2019.
