Federal Agency for tourism together with the Patriarchal Council for culture and the first public Orthodox TV channel “Spas” with the support of the Public Council under the Federal tourism Agency launched the Federal project “Shrines of Russia” reports patriarhiei.

23 June 2018 started shooting the first season of the eponymous TV show “Shrines of Russia”, which introduces viewers to the unique monuments of the religious history of Russia, objects of the spiritual heritage, tourist and pilgrimage routes in the subjects of the Russian Federation.

Leading the program were made by Anton and Victoria Makarska. The first regions for the filming began in Novgorod and Pskov region.

Shooting will begin in the city of Valdai of the Novgorod district, where the group will visit the virgin svyatoozerskaya Valday Iversky monastery and Valday bells Museum. In Veliky Novgorod the shooting will be held in the Novgorod Kremlin and Yuriev monastery. One of the filming days will be devoted to the study of the cultural and spiritual heritage in the city of Staraya Russa, where are the Spaso-Preobrazhensky antoniyevo-Leonovsky monastery, the resurrection Cathedral and the Church of St. George. The objects for shooting in the Pskov region will become the Pskov Kremlin and is known for its iconostasis of the Trinity Cathedral of St. John the theologian Sabbas of Krypetsk monastery and the Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy Mirozhsky monastery. Presenters will visit the Dormition Pskovo-Pechersky monastery and on the Talab Islands.

Feature of the project is the combination of the narrative about the Orthodox shrines with a story about tourism opportunities in the territories where they are located, highlighting the issues of transport logistics, accommodation, food, etc. the project’s Objective is not only to interest the audience, encourage them to travel and acquaintance with objects of cultural and religious heritage of Russia, but also to provide the information needed to arrange travel.

    

“Project “Shrines of Russia” aims to attract the interest of tourists to monuments of religious culture and spiritual heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation, create conditions for their active use in development of cultural-cognitive, religious and other types of tourism. One of his most important tasks is to show our country the Russian and foreign community as an attractive destination for travel and pilgrimage educational nature that will facilitate an increase in domestic and inbound tourist traffic. In the framework of the project “Shrines of Russia” will be focused on children and youth audience, — says the head of the Federal tourism Agency Oleg Safonov. — Familiarity with the great shrines and religious history of our country is very important for moral and Patriotic upbringing of the younger generation of Russians, for his spiritual enrichment, and instilling in him the traditional values.”
