Festival of Christian cinema “Nevsky Blagovest” was opened on 19 November 2018 the Holy spirit in the heart of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg, reports patriarhiei.
This year the forum is held for the twelfth time and is dedicated to 1030 anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. In the program — the show of more than 70 documentaries and feature films, concerts, choral music and recitals.
The ceremony was led by project Manager Raisa Evdokimova and President of the festival people’s artist of Russia Nikolai Burov.
Congratulating the guests, the organizers and the participants of the meeting, the Director of Holy spirit center, the Alexander Nevsky monastery, hegumen Philaret (Pryanishnikov) noted that the films cover a vast historical period. In today’s world it is easy to turn on the TV and need visual products. But the festival’s films primarily make you think about yourself and your life.
Guests were also welcomed by the chief of city Department for relations with religious organizations Vladimir Ivanov and the head of administration of Tsentralny district Andrei Hluttaw.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Alexander Nevsky monastery, Bishop Nazariy of Kronstadt.
The forum was originally organized as interfaith. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Armenian Apostolic, Roman Catholic, Evangelical Lutheran Churches and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria.
Made by the psaltery players, ensembles, vocal and choral Studio “On Fontanka” and the Armenian “Nairi”, the soloists of the Russian orchestra named after Vasily Andreev. Held a screening of the documentary “the Courage of Leningrad,” directed by Paul Gladunova, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade.
The festival will last until November 25. Meetings are held at the Holy spirit center, the Museum of the history of religion, in the “Savior” and in other venues. Entrance to all events is free.
