The leader of the former Kyivan Patriarchate asks the Parliament to pass a bill legalizing the Church actually raiding.
Filaret appealed to the Verkhovna Rada with a request to pass the bill, which will determine the mechanism for electing a religious center. On 12 January, reports UNN.
“Because now the law is that every parish might choose their center, but how to choose – no. We therefore ask the Parliament to adopt the law” – said the “honorable Patriarch.”
He also explained how the mechanism of determining the religious centre has developed in the newly established PCU.
“We suggest that the whole community came together under the leadership or the rector, or under the direction of the Board of agriculture, held a parish meeting and vote, what Church they want to belong: Russian or Ukrainian. We offer if 2/3 vote for the Ukrainian Church, the Church belongs to the Ukrainian Church, if for the Russian Church, then the Church will belong to the Russian Church. But those who got this 1/3 has the right to open your parish to register in the Russian or Ukrainian Church. We don’t want any violence,” – said Filaret.
As reported by the SPM, the Verkhovna Rada will consider on January 17 anti-clerical bill No. 4128 “On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On freedom of conscience and religious organizations” (regarding the changes in religious communities of subordination).”
Bill No. 4128 amending the provisions that regulate the persons belonging to a religious community is the notion of “identity” and also specified the procedure for changing the subordination of the community. According to experts, this initiative aims to legitimize Church raiding.
