The head of the UOC-KP Filaret
The head of the UOC-KP spoke to Americans at the conference and urged the U.S. to aid in the establishment of autocephaly in Ukraine.
On 19 September the leader of the Kiev Patriarchate, Patriarch Filaret gave a lecture at the Atlantic Council (Washington, D.C.), the press service of the UOC-KP.
“We thank USA for the fact that they support the intention of Patriarch Bartholomew to provide us with the Tomos of autocephaly <…>, – said in his speech, Patriarch Filaret. We hope the US will help us to bring our Church to end.”
The head of the UOC-KP reminded that what happens in Ukraine concerns Europe, and the United States. Also the head of the UOC-KP said that Tomos need to get this year before the presidential election.
At the moment Filaret is visiting the United States. The Embassy of Ukraine was held a solemn reception of the “Patriarch” of the delegation and a meeting with the leaders of the Ukrainian community of Washington. Also Filaret was awarded the order of a U.S. Senator who is a lobbyist for gay marriage.
As reported by the SPM, the head of the DECR of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) said that the actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine is the American administration.
