Manager of the UOC Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary
The decision against those who violate the paragraphs of the resolution of the Council of bishops of the UOC , will be taken by the Holy Synod, said the Metropolitan of Boryspil and Brovary of Antony.
Representatives of the UOC, which in circumvention of the decisions of the Council of bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, will participate in the unification Council, will be subject to disciplinary action. This was stated by the Manager of the UOC Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary in an interview with TNT, published by the information Center of the UOC.
“Our Church was made collegiate decision, which is binding upon all the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – said the Hierarch. – This applies to the bishops, clergy, and laity. In this decision specifically says that to take part in the so-called “unification Council” none of us can. All that is contrary to the canonical rules and the decisions taken by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, will be regarded as a canonical violation, followed by appropriate disciplinary action”.
Archbishop Anthony explained that it is not a punishment – “a sword chop”, and the fact that a cleric has violated the Episcopal oath and walked out of the canonical Church, which gave birth to him as a Bishop. Manager of the UOC also noted that the specific decision on the form penalties will take the Holy Synod.
13 November 2018 in the Kyiv Lavra Pechersky held an emergency meeting of the Council of bishops of the UOC, which adopted a resolution according to which “the participation of bishops, clergy and laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church” in the processes related to the establishment of autocephaly in Ukraine is impossible.
