“Vysokopreosvjashchennyj and the most Reverend hierarchs, dear fathers, brothers and sisters!
With a special feeling, I always come to the Holy land of Valaam, a place created just like in order to here offered up a special prayer to the Lord that took place here on this world and committed spiritual exploits those who fully dedicates his life to God. And the nature itself, and the special spiritual atmosphere of this place, of course, have the most positive impact on the human soul if this soul seeks God. There are places where the sky touches the earth, where it is especially felt the power of the Divine presence, and here in Russia it is Balaam.
Of course, stay in the Valaam monastery places a special responsibility on those who dared to enter that Holy place and perform their monastic life. So my first prayer and my heartfelt wishes to the brethren, not to lower degrees of the spiritual life, to passionately poured out from the hearts of monastics prayer groaning to the Lord. People get used to anything, including to the Holy place. But it is very important that this habituation was not accompanied by a cooling of spiritual feelings, the cooling of faith, the weakening of prayer.
I really appreciate the spiritual work being done here, in this Holy place. I thank everyone who prays for me, who prays for our Church, who not only pray about yourself and not only read notes of a congregation, but, aware of the importance of their constant presence on this Holy ground, groaning about the Church and our Fatherland. Let your prayer never weakens, may the Lord protect you all in peace, love, unity, good faith. And may God answers your prayer because that is the answer wsystem we all, referring to his Heavenly Father. May God’s blessing on this Holy place and all of you, dear brothers. I congratulate you with the upcoming feast in memory of saints Sergius and Herman of Valaam”.
