In Lutsk honored the memory of the liberators of the Volyn region from the Nazis


Liberators honored the clergy of the diocese and students of Volyn theological Seminary.

July 20, at the Memorial of Eternal Glory in Lutsk hosted the celebrations dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Volyn oblast from fascist troops.

In the ceremony, along with a few veterans of venerable age, who were witnesses of the events of the Second world war, was attended by the clergymen of the Volyn diocese, representatives of the authorities and the public, the press service of the diocese.

The blessing of the Bishop of Volyn and Lutsk Nathanael, the day of the liberators of the honored clerics of the diocese and students of the Volyn theological Seminary.

To the monument of the Unknown soldier of the priests laid a mourning wreath.

A memorial service for the dead soldiers and civilians headed by the Chairman of the diocesan Department “Church and society” Archpriest Alexander Bogdanov. During the prayer he sang the chorus of students of the Volyn theological Seminary.

During the Second world war, Volhynia died 165 of thousands of civilians. During the liberation of Volhynia, according to various estimates, have died from 26 thousand to 45 thousand Soviet soldiers.

After the liberation of the Volyn region more than a thousand of locals continued the fight against the Nazis in Poland, Germany, East Prussia, the Baltic States. Almost one third never returned Home.
