In Paris there was a presentation of the International project “Alexander Nevsky”

    

The delegation of Pereslavl diocese took part in the presentation of an International cultural-educational project “Alexander Nevsky” in France, the press service of Pereslavl diocese.

In the development of International spiritual and educational project “Alexander Nevsky” and events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First World war in France has arrived delegation of Pereslavl diocese, headed by Bishop of Pereslavl and Uglich Theodore. The event is held with the blessing of Bishop Nestor of Korsun, with the participation of the Charitable Fund “it is” together with the Patriarchal metochion in the village Zdekhovo Moscow region

The delegation took part in celebrations dedicated to the centenary of the First world war and the memory of Russian soldiers killed on the battlefields in France. In the small town of Vanves in Paris the graves of soldiers were discovered and put in order this year. At the funeral ceremony was attended by the residents and descendants of Russian soldiers buried on French soil. Litany to the cemetery was headed by the Bishop of Pereslavl and Uglich Theodore co-served by Archpriest Sergiy Kiselev and Kirill Kiselyov, co-founder of International spiritual and educational project, the Alexander Nevsky, Pereslavl diocese, leaders of Church youth Center named after St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas Patriarchal metochion in the village Zdekhovo Moscow region. The event was attended by the General sponsor of the project – President of the Charitable Fund “it is” Ilya F. Aristov.

The event was organized with the participation of the mayor of the city of Vanves and personally mayor Mr Bernard Goduco. At the end Vladyka Theodore and Mr. Goduco held a press conference at city hall and exchanged gifts. In his speech, Archbishop Feodor told the audience about the development of Pereslavl diocese children’s programmes and educational projects. Ancient Uglich, part of the diocese, his Holiness Patriarch Kirill called the “City of childhood”. The mayor of Vanves, in turn, responded that in their city also, much attention is paid to projects related to education, upbringing of the younger generation.

Then there was a concert of military-Patriotic and folk songs performed by the precast choir from Yaroslavl and Moscow region, which are involved in the International project “Alexander Nevsky”.

The parish of Holy Trinity Church and the new martyrs and Confessors of the diocese of Korsun of the Russian Orthodox Church in Vanves, held a roundtable on “Developments and challenges in the religious life of Russia during the twentieth century.” The vigil was led by Bishop of Pereslavl and Uglich Theodore.

The next day in the Trinity Cathedral of the diocese of Korsun of the Russian Orthodox Church in Paris hosted a presentation of the International Orthodox cultural-educational project “Alexander Nevsky”.

The day began with a solemn divine Liturgy led by Bishop Nestor of Korsun and Bishop of Pereslavl and Uglich Theodore. Singing at the service was a combined men’s choir with the participation of the team from Russia “Yaroslavl having sung”.

After Liturgy Bishop Bishop Theodore made a presentation on “the History and prospects of development of the project Alexander Nevsky”, and the project coordinator, the clergyman of the Church of the Transfiguration at the Transfiguration square of Moscow, father Kirill Kiselev, spoke on “International song festivals in the framework of the project Alexander Nevsky and the experience of the Russian-French cooperation”.

Concluding the event was a concert of sacred music men’s chamber chorus “Yaroslavl having sung” managed by Alexei Kornev, together with the laureate of international and all-Russian competitions, soloist of Opera theatres of the world Oleg Didenko (bass).

    

The program of stay of delegation of Pereslavl diocese in France also includes a visit to the Russian cemetery Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois, where there will be a memorial service, a visit to the Spiritual and educational center named after the venerable Genevieve of Paris, St. Nicholas Metochion (Avenue Montaigne) in Paris.

At the end of the visit, the delegation of Pereslavl diocese will visit the festival of Orthodox sacred music singing groups of Paris, which will be attended by male choir from Russia. It will be held in Trinity Cathedral in Paris.
