In day of memory ravnoapostolnogo Prince Vladimir in the framework of the celebrations dedicated to the day of the baptism of Russia, on the Central streets of Sevastopol there was held traditional city-wide procession with the ark with the relics of St. Prince Volodymyr, the website of the Sevastopol deanery.
At the end of the procession, the reliquary was listed in the St. Vladimir’s Cathedral, where was held a festive divine Liturgy.
The solemn Liturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea, Metropolitan of Pskov and Porkhov Tikhon (Shevkunov). Their Eminence was co-served by clergy of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese.
In the festive day of St. Vladimir Cathedral could not accommodate all Orthodox Christians who came to pray in the Holy for each Russian person. Every year, the St. Vladimir Cathedral is visited by several thousand people.
The festive divine Service prayed the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol Ekaterina Altabaeva, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Dmitry Belik, black sea fleet commander Vice-Admiral Alexander Moiseev, chief Federal inspector in Sevastopol Alexander Antontsev.
Chants of the divine Liturgy were performed by the choir of the Moscow Sretensky monastery.
After the service, representatives of the international development centre of socially important projects “the Holy Lavra of Orthodox Russia” was donated to St. Vladimir Cathedral in Chersonesos and St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Simferopol the list of icons “the Cathedral of the Patron Saint Laurus of Holy Russia”.
