The Union of restorers of Russia, opened the first summer school for young specialists in the Arkhangelsk region. For 12 days, participants will learn theory and will work with the monuments of architecture and painting in the region, said on Monday TASS Executive Secretary of the Union of restorers of Russia Maria Portnova.
“We organized this project – visiting summer school restoration. As the experimental site selected Arkhangelsk oblast, as there are a huge number of temples, like stone, wood, smoky huts <…> are in poor condition and requires help, so for restorers is a broad field of activities”, – said the Agency interlocutor. She said that the school participants included more than 20 young specialists from Moscow, Voronezh, Vologda and Belarus.
According to Portnova, the school program is divided into two sections: for architects, conservators and art restorers. All participants will attend a theoretical course and take part in the works on wooden and stone temples of the city of Kargopol and its surroundings. Among them, the Kenozero national Park, the complex of wooden Church of Michael the Archangel and the presentation of the Lord in the village of Archangel, Cretino-St. Michael’s Church in Krasnaya Lyaga, the historical village of Kuchipudi. The practice of restoration of easel paintings and objects of decorative art held in the “Oshevensky parish”, the Museum under the open sky, where more than a hundred exhibits XV-XX centuries.
As explained Portnov, the project received the support of the government of the region and the Union hopes that the idea will grow into a national youth restoration movement. Also pre-planned that a similar school will be held this autumn in Veliky Novgorod.
