In the center of Kiev held a three-day Marathon reading of the Bible

“The Ukrainian Bible society” held a three-day round-the-clock Marathon of Bible reading in the center of Kiev. The marathon was held from 5 July to 8 July, on St. Sophia square. A unique event is nominated to the national register of records of Ukraine.

For more than three days — 77 hours the Bible was read aloud from beginning to end.

In a Marathon attended by more than 320 readers — Christians of various denominations and churches of different fields of activity, age and sex of heads of churches and clergymen from various regions of Ukraine, members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, representatives of the sphere of culture, officials, MPs and foreign guests.

In particular, among the participants: Minister of culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyshchuk, the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for children’s rights Mykola Kuleba, head of Department of culture, nationalities and religions Kyiv regional state administration Igor Podolyanets and many others.

The aim of the Marathon is to draw attention of Ukrainian society on the Bible not only as ancient, historically significant book, but as an available and relevant source of wisdom and morality.

May the Lord protect and bless our country and our people!”

Along with biblical marathon continued Nationwide rewriting of the Bible. To join it could be anyone, overwriting one of the Bible verses in manuscript of the Bible, which symbolizes the Union of Christians in Ukraine around God’s Word.

Has completed Marathon performance of Kyiv Symphony orchestra and chorus under the direction of the Weight Jensen. Forty singers performed works based on biblical texts.

Recall that on the occasion of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Kievan Rus, as well as to encourage Ukrainians to reading and Bible study, Christian churches together with “Ukrainian Bible society” decided to declare 2018 as the year of the word of God in Ukraine.
