16 July 2018 at the Iveron Valdai monastery in Novgorod diocese started its work next, already the sixth Russian-Italian school, whose aim is the study of language, history, literature and culture of the two countries. The workshop is organized by the Orthodox St. Tikhon humanitarian University in close cooperation with the Novgorod Archdiocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, reports the website of the University.
This year the General theme of school – “Russia after the 1917 revolution as a crisis of culture.” The participants of the event were teachers and students of St. Tikhon’s University (theological, philological and pedagogical faculties) and colleges, universities, schools and cultural institutions of Italy (Florence, Milan, Bari, Palermo and Rome).
The school was attended by 25 students: 9 out of pstgu and 16 from Italy.
The school began with a meeting with Metropolitan of Novgorod and Staraya Russa Lion (Serpick), who addressed a parting word to the participants and noted that the Summer school at the Iveron monastery at Valdai has become a good tradition, emphasizing friendly ties and cultural proximity of Russia and Italy.
Specially for the Metropolitan Lev master student from Italy Alessandra Fusca with a beautiful voice and come to Valday for the second time, had prepared a musical greeting.
