In the Publishing Council of the publishers discussed the promotion of Orthodox literature

    

The traditional meeting with the publishing community was held on 27 December 2018 in the Assembly hall of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church. The main theme of the meeting was the discussion on the promotion of Orthodox literature in the information space, according to patriarhiei.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Publishing Council of the Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk, the staff of the publications Board, as well as managers, chief editors and representatives of publishing Orthodox literature. Also in the meeting with the publishers was attended by Director of the Russian book chamber E. Nogina B., Deputy Director of the book chamber and Board member of the Russian book Union, Konstantin V. Antipov, Executive Director of the Russian book Union L. L. Palko.

In his opening remarks, Metropolitan Clement presented to the publishers statistics of peer review publications in 2018, noting that under the simplified rules had been reviewed more than a third of the papers received. Also, the Chairman of the Publishing Council highlighted the hierarchy of decisions in the development and monitoring of grigoripotyokin in the dioceses. The blessing of his Holiness Patriarch Kirill was appointed the diocesan responsible for the development of book distribution and library network in the dioceses, there were developed methodical recommendations on organization of control of circulation in our system bookselling only literature that has the stamp of the publications Board. To date, the control checks of independent bookstores had already been held in 24 dioceses, in December, in the Bryansk diocese was checked 13 bookshops and shops of Orthodox books, buzulukskaya diocese -18, Ivanovo-Voznesensk — 41 Orthodox bookstore. These monitoring tools will promote the development of book distribution in dioceses.

The head of the Publishing Council drew attention to the key areas of development activities of publishers in the promotion of Orthodox literature in the information space to produce high quality reviews, interviews, book reviews, interaction with bloggers and social networks. The Archbishop gave examples of authors who are actively and successfully conducting meetings with readers, presenting their works. This causes a positive response in the reader’s environment.

The meeting participants were welcomed by the head of the Russian book chamber E. Nogina B., her Deputy K. V. Antipov made suggestions about possible points of interaction of the publications Board and the Book chamber in creating bibliographic online resource devoted to its Orthodox literature. Currently there are opportunities for the creation of such media. The level of development and use in the daily activities of information technology allows for the foreseeable future to develop such a resource.

In his speech, the assistant Chairman of the publications Board, hieromonk Macarius (Kolmogorov) spoke about the activities of the web portal “Pravlenie.ru”. Father Macarius also drew attention of publishers to the new possibilities in informing responsible for knigoexport in dioceses about the novelties of the book market.

Speech by the assistant Chairman of the publications Board, D. M. Volodikhin was devoted to the peculiarities of the domestic blogosphere and possible forms of involvement of the popular Orthodox bloggers in media events to promote the dissemination of Orthodox literature, and to draw attention of Internet users to this important phenomenon of Russian culture.

The speech of the chief editor of the information portal of the Orthodox literature “Pravlenie.ru” S. S. Arutyunov was dedicated to the new projects implemented in the portal — series of interviews with writers in the framework of the project “Man and book” the cycle of publications about the Orthodox publishing houses, as well as the program presentations of new books of the Orthodox literature, currently being run by the reader’s club store of the Publishing house of the Moscow Patriarchate Pogodinskaya.

Head of publishing, “Symbols” S. L. spoke about My experiences with promotion of new publications, possible costs and the complexity of organization of information work.

During the discussion, the publishers exchanged views on the issues, and discussed a number of topics related to features advance information on new publications in the community.

Traditionally in the end of the meeting the Chairman of the Publishing Council noted the awards honored publishers. A medal of venerable Epiphanius the Wise of II degree for outstanding contribution to the development of the publishing activities of the Russian Orthodox Church and promotion of Orthodox literature in modern society was marked G. G. Galichkina, senior editor of the Publishing house of the Sretensky monastery. Medal of Ivan Fyodorov II degree was awarded to S. L. My, head of the publishing house “Symbols”.
