Russian Orthodox University opened courses for employees of mass media “formulate and ensure media coverage of Orthodox holidays,” according to patriarhiei. The program of additional education is divided into cycles, the first one dedicated to the upcoming feast of the Nativity.

15 Dec 2018 held its first meeting, which was opened by the rector of the Russian Orthodox University Abbot Peter (Eremeev). On this day before the audience with a lecture on “Mishaps and errors of content in the coverage of Orthodox holidays: the theory and practice of overcoming” were the leading author of the program of TV channel “Spas” candidate of political Sciences Elena Goal and the employee of the Press service of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Maria Korovin. Then the rector of the Church of the Church of the blessed virgin Mary in Leonov Moscow Archpriest Andrei Mahnovski told about superstitions, superstitions and folk rituals associated with the feast of the Nativity. During the meetings discussions were held, which were attended by the course participants.

In the future, scheduled lectures and practical classes, which spend Archpriest Lev Shikhlyarov, senior lecturer in philosophy and theology RPU; Archpriest Vladimir Vigilyansky, essayist, literary critic, rector of the Church of the Holy Martyr Tatiana at Moscow state University. Lomonosov; Evgeniya Zhukovskaya, a specialist of Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate, editor in chief of the portal “Parishes”, associate Professor of the Department of Philology and journalism RPU; priest Pavel Ostrovsky, a cleric of St. Nicholas Church in Pavshinsky the floodplain Krasnogorsk district of the Moscow region.

The program of additional education correlates with areas of training of higher education journalism and theology. The course is designed for employees of mass media, as well as students of specialized educational institutions.
