July 8, 2018 in the village of Putilovo, Leningrad region on the day of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Church of the Tikhvin icon of the mother of God will take place the solemn consecration of the restored Church, the press service of the Imperial Fund for cancer research.
Charitable Foundation “Revival of the Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God” invites you to participate in worship. The temple will re-open for parishioners after 80 years since its closure.
The solemn Liturgy will begin at 09:00, the lighting of the Temple will be headed by the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonofy. In the Liturgy will be attended by: the vicar of St. Petersburg diocese, Bishop Markell of Tsarskoye Selo, the Bishop of Tikhvin and Lodeinoye pole, Mstislav, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Charitable Fund Maxim Sokolov, the Chairman of the Commission on philanthropy, civic education and social responsibility of the Public chamber of the Russian Federation, rector of the Church, Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko.
In 2011, the building was donated to a Charity Fund for work in a state of almost complete destruction. Was destroyed the bell tower, destroyed the dome, there was no ceiling, there were wide gaps in the masonry walls. In 2012 with the aim of reviving parish life next to the restored temple was built a temporary Church of St. Nicholas and parish house. This allowed to organize an active parochial, missionary and educational activities. By order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 207-p dated 15.02.2014, Church of the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God with the Church garden was declared a cultural heritage site of Federal significance.
In the course of performing emergency work in 2011-2012 were required to spend istoriko-cultural examination, a study of the foundations and bearing walls of the temple, to perform the design work. Restoration methodology involves the preservation of existing structures and restoration of the decoration in accordance with the surviving historical documents. Restoration work, which began in 2013, completed this spring.
