In the Vologda Archdiocese restored the historic Nativity Ferapontov monastery

In connection with the entry of hieromonk Ioasaf (Vishnyakov) in the management of Ferapontov monastery Metropolitan Ignatius at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the virgin has performed the rite of placing him in the Abbot of the monastery with the presentation of the Abbot staff.

Bishop Ignatius congratulated the audience with a historically significant event for the entire Russian Church – a full-fledged revival of monastic life in one of the oldest male monasteries of the Vologda Archdiocese – the Nativity of the virgin Ferapontov monastery: “I believe that our joint work with the Museum community will be to serve our Fatherland and our people.”

Greeted the audience asked the Deputy Governor of the region O. A. Vasiliev:

“94 years later, at the Ferapontov monastery is reviving the spiritual life. This is the best incarnation of the leave-taking of the historical memory of the founders of the ancient monastery in the Vologda land”.

“Of course, we were waiting for the day of fulfillment of historical justice, and I hope that now, when the spiritual life of the Ferapontov monastery will be the main, combination of cultural heritage and spirituality will make this Holy place more attractive for pilgrims and tourists,” – said Oleg.

The Deputy Governor wished first Abbot of the revived Ferapontov monastery to live in peace and goodness, and to the founders of the monastery – the monk Ferapont and Martinian, and all the saints of the Vologda were with him always in his writings.

In state houses it is planned to equip administrative premises of the monastery.
