November 3, 2018 in the Tver academic drama theatre took place the solemn opening of the XII Russian world Assembly, organized by the Fund “Russian world” and the International Association of teachers of Russian language and literature reports patriarhiei.
The Assembly is the biggest event in the activities of the Fund “Russian world”. Traditionally, the forum is dedicated to celebration of Day of national unity.
In the event, which focused on the theme “the Universality of Russian culture”, attended by the delegates from 69 countries and 33 cities of Russia — political and public figures, diplomats, scientists, representatives of associations of compatriots, clergy, cultural figures and arts, University professors and teachers of Russian schools, Russian and foreign journalists.
From the Russian Orthodox Church at the Assembly was attended by the first Deputy head of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan of Tver and Kashin Savva and the Secretary of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate for the Affairs of the far abroad, Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev. Also among the participants of the meeting in Tver the clergy from abroad, invited by the organizers.
About the beginning of the forum was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Fund “Russian world”, the Chairman of Committee of the State Duma education Vyacheslav Nikonov.
Were announced of the message sent to the organizers and participants of the Assembly the President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin, Chairman of Russian Government D. A. Medvedev, Chairman of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Vladimir Volodin, the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S. V. Lavrov, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, E. V. Mitrofanova.
At the opening of the international meeting, the head of the Tver Archdiocese announced a greeting of his Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, participants and guests of the Assembly.
In the course of discussion events focused on diversity and global nature of Russian culture as a global phenomenon, the ways of preservation and development of culture as a unique resource of international humanitarian cooperation in the modern world.
The sides discussed a wide range of issues affecting the ideals and values of the Russian world, including the role of the Russian language in international communication, the development of foreign Russian-language journalism, strengthening traditions of Russian theatre abroad as a model of preservation of the Russian language, preservation of cultural and historical heritage and the historical memory of the heroism of our ancestors, the value of interfaith dialogue for a culture of peace.
The Assembly will conclude its work on 4 November.
