In Uzhgorod refused to rename the street Griboyedov in Pochaev

At a public hearing in the Uzhgorod city Council majority voted against the street renaming of Alexander Griboyedov in Pochaev, writes Uzhgorod.net.

As the head of Department of town planning and architecture Oleg Borshevsky, the city Council received a petition from the religious community, signed 107 Uzhgorod with a request to rename the street Griboyedov in Pochaev.

Over the past two months there were two treatment proposals to rename the street Griboyedov in the street Joseph Steliga or to mount Athos.

At the hearings was made by the chief doctor of Uzhgorod city hospital Ivan Kurakh, stressing that it speaks on behalf of 5 groups of health facilities that are located on this street. According to Kureha, renaming will cause ineffective license: to practice medicine and the use of narcotic drugs required for operations.

In the end the majority voted against the street renaming.

Earlier, one of Kiev’s avenues proposed to rename in honor of Lubomyr Husar.
