The members of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada reject the chaplain’s Ministry of presence of the UOC in the territory of all military frmirovanii and I hope that after Thomas settled first.

On the official website of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on national security and defence published a transcript of the meeting of September 5, 2018, during which openly discussed the limitations on rights and freedoms of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to the transcript, the people’s Deputy from “popular front” Yuri Birch took the initiative to ban the activities of the UOC “on the territory of all military forces, including border guards, National guard, security Service”. During the discussion the initiative of the Birch was supported by the Chairman of the Committee Deputy Sergei Pashinsky, who offered immediately to address to the President and noted that “the problem is finally resolved after receiving Thomas”.

This assured all those present and the people’s Deputy Irina Lutsenko.

“I think after we get Tomos, Ukraine will have an independent Local Ukrainian Church as part of our independence and sovereignty. These questions will be addressed not only by the Supreme Commander, and with the help of people’s deputies, too,” – said the politician.

In the end, Sergei Pashinsky agreed that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which he called a “fifth column”, have no place in the army, so you should take appropriate action.

“Dear Yuri, with your permission, I believe that the issue you have raised, indeed, must not occur, this is a serious issue. <…> I will send the appropriate letter, Mr. Rusnak, take control, Supreme Commander Poroshenko and the defense Minister about inadmissibility of stay in the territory of military units of the Church of the aggressor state. It’s simple things,” – said the Deputy.

Earlier, on the Directive of the General staff of the APU to prevent chaplains of the UOC for the care of military personnel reported Deputy Chairman of the Department of the UOC for relations with the Armed Forces and other military formations of Ukraine, Archimandrite Luke (Wynarczyk).
