Operating Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate made a pilgrimage to the shrines of the Crimea

    

From 25 to 29 June 2018 operating Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonofy on the invitation of Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Lazar made a pilgrimage to the shrines of the Crimea, reports patriarhiei.

At the airport of Simferopol Bishop Varsonofy was met by Metropolitan Lazar and head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov.

“I have already been given to go on the blessed Crimean land, — has told operating Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate, but for me a great pleasure once again to pray at the relics of God’s great Confessor of St. Luke the Crimean, which is a special way revered not only in the Russian Orthodox Church but in other local Churches. Like many Orthodox Christians, I resort to the prayers of the Saint, when I visited the illness, and receive consolation. Thank you for the opportunity to visit the shrines of the Crimea”.

June 26, at the Holy Trinity convent of Simferopol Metropolitan Varsonofy prayed at the relics of St. Luke, Archbishop of Crimea. In prayerful memory of Metropolitan Lazar presented to the guest the ark with the relics of St. Luke and of St. Gury of Tauris. Archbishop Varsonofy thanked for the precious gift and handed over the Simferopol congregation the blessing of his Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.

Addressing the congregation, the Bishop stressed that the life of St. Luke reflects the Savior’s words “he who endures to the end shall be saved”. Remember the hour of judgment, noted Metropolitan Varsonofy: “the Lord will judge us not according to the early and mid-life and throughout its course, even to the end.”

Bishop got acquainted with the Museum exposition devoted to swedenlithuania Luka, visited the newly-built St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, where in the lower chapel of Saint Gury of Tauris prayed at his venerable relics. The pilgrims then visited the upper chapel and baptismal Church, where finishing work is under way, visited in Tauris theological Seminary in Simferopol diocesan administration.

On June 27 at the invitation of the Archbishop of Dzhankoy and razdolnenskiy alypius operating Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate visited the Dzhankoy diocese. In the intercession Cathedral of junk, he was met by Archbishop Alypy and the mayor Eduard Selivanov. After the talk, Metropolitan varsonofiy inspected the construction site of the diocesan religious education center.

June 28, at the invitation of the Metropolitan of Feodosia and Kerch Plato Metropolitan Varsonofy I visited the home of St. Luke (Voyno-Yasenetsky) — the city of Kerch, where they visited the oldest in Russia the temple of St. John the Baptist Cathedral. Operating Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate and met with Metropolitan Platon and the head of the Kerch municipal education Nikolay Gusakov. Also, Bishop Varsonofy acquainted with the attraction of this part of the Peninsula — recently erected by the Crimean bridge.

The trip Manager was accompanied by his Deputy, Archimandrite Savva (Tutunov), the staff of the diocese of St. Petersburg and Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate.

June 29, Metropolitan Varsonofy arrived in Moscow.
