Participation of the Church in Dushanbe opened a soup kitchen and center for humanitarian aid

From 5 to 15 October, Tajikistan was visited by the head of aid in emergencies of the Synodal Department for charity Polina Yufereva. This is her third visit in the framework of the program “Assistance to compatriots in Tajikistan”.

The representative of the Synodal Department for charity and the staff of the Dushanbe diocese of 100 thousand rubles and bought food for hot lunch in the dining room and 45 food packages for people living in remote areas of Dushanbe and Kurgan-Tyube. Also thanks to the agreement with the charity Foundation “Spring” on a regular purchase products for another 100 thousand rubles were purchased 110 food packages for people in difficult situations, single mothers, low-income families, single pensioners and disabled people of Dushanbe and Kurgan-Tyube. According to Pauline Fareway, a list of needy families with each visit increased. Currently, in this 155 people.

Work continued on a new program of targeted assistance to compatriots in Tajikistan. In each family, a representative of the Synodal Department together with the staff of the diocese said pressing needs — among them food, medicines, clothes, furniture, etc. in addition to food aid and medicines, people are in a difficult situation in need of rebuilding their dilapidated houses, most of which are in poor condition. Program launch is planned in November.

“We met some new families in dire need of assistance. One woman, Elena, has nine children and grandchildren, — said Polina Yufereva. — Two do: collect vegetables from the field, the day earn for 140 rubles. For them, we brought three of the food basket planned to include in the program of targeted aid”.

A significant percentage of Russian-speaking people in Tajikistan, living in poverty, living under hard conditions. According to the July monitoring Research Institute for social policy, HSE, Russia, Tajikistan ranks the lowest real level of wages of all the countries of the former Soviet Union.

Earlier, in April of this year, the Synodal Department for charity has transferred 300 thousand rubles for the needy Dushanbe diocese: funds were used to purchase food packages to patients of the psychiatric hospital, the treatment, and targeted assistance to the poor — the wards of the social Department of the diocese.

In September was held the second trip of the employee of the Synodal Department for charity Pauline Fareway in Tajikistan, which were procured equipment and furniture for dining and the center for humanitarian aid. Were also donated 300 thousand to the establishment of a centre for humanitarian aid and 120 thousand rubles to purchase beds and equipment for the diocesan orphanage for children. Within 10 days the representative of the Synodal Department purchased equipment, passed food assistance and visited families in need of compatriots in remote areas.
