Patriarch Kirill expressed condolences for the victims of the fires in Greece

    

His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill expressed his condolences to Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Alexis Tsipras and his Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Hieronymos II in connection with the death of people in fires in Greece. According to the latest data, the death toll rose to 74 people.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister!

Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the loss of many of Your countrymen, the resulting rampant fire throughout the country.

This tragedy is a clear indication of the fragility of human life, the vulnerability created by the Creator of nature and our responsibility before God for the fulfillment of the commandments to cultivate and keep the earth (Gen. 2:15).

Wise Lord rest the souls of the dearly departed servants in the dwellings of the righteous, grant fortress strength to those who are now opposed to the flame and is working on overcoming consequences of the disaster, heal the wounds of the victims and grant consolation to those who lost their loved ones.

Your Beatitude, beloved in the Lord Brother and fellow Servant!

With a heavy heart I received the news of the death of many people in the aftermath of the Greek fires. Please accept my deep condolences on this tragedy.

On behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church asked to convey words of support and consolation to the families and friends of those killed and injured in the fire element.

The merciful Lord rest the souls of novopaschenny servants in the villages of heaven, where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life unending. Pray for the speedy healing of the wounded.
