Pilgrim center to be built in the homeland of Matrona of Moscow in the village of Sebino in the Tula region, where it now operates a Museum complex. The main construction work is planned in 2019. TASS said the Minister of culture of the region Tatiana Rybkina.
“The project of construction of the pilgrim center in the village of Sebino agreed, we planned that ground works will begin in 2018 and construction in 2019. A center is necessary in connection with the increased interest in home Matrona of Moscow, the history of her life here. On weekdays Sebino visited at least a hundred people at the weekend – not less than three hundred. The largest flow of up to 2.5 thousand people annually falls on may 2 – the day of memory Matron,” – said Rybkin.
She also added that since the opening of the Museum in 2014, the Sebino was visited by more than 185 thousand people, including 30 regions of Russia and 20 countries of near and far abroad, including Mexico, USA, Canada, England, and Italy. Now in Sebino’s village, located in Kirovskom area more than 100 km from Tula, there is no opportunity for accommodation of pilgrims and tourists. “The project will be built directly in the hotel complex, the refectory, exhibition hall” – said Rybkin.
The total cost of the construction of the pilgrim center are estimated at 300 million rubles, they took a private investor, budget co-financing is not implied, said Rybkin.
The creation of the Museum complex in the village of Sebino began in 2013. Now it includes the Museum building, two monuments of the Holy matron, the Church of the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary, covered font and the sacred spring, souvenir shop. The total area is about 5 ha.
